Coach makes the complex simple. I enjoyed reading and re-reading this book. This is a must have for any coaches collection at any level.

From the moment I opened this book, I couldn't put it down. It was full of perspectives, situations, schemes, and had approaches to the plays that, as a defensive coordinator, I've always had some problems with. If you want to take your game to the next level, be a teacher on the practice field for your players, read this book, and take copious notes!!! Benefits are endless!
Coach Rice does a great job of detailing the complexities of defending the ever-changing spread offense.
Unlike most football books it doesn't just go into how to run a specific play but, when and against what plays to run it against.
Would have gave it a 5 star but didn't for a few reasons.
1. Some of the material is repetitive and it kind of copy and pasts plays over and over for each chapter
2. Instead of more popular 5 wide sets he talks about quad which he explains you can easily adapt the principles. This is fine but I would rather see less on the quads and more 3x2
3. Maybe the biggest issue. Spread is a pretty generic term now. In this book he means spread passing. So you DON'T get any information on how to defend the running aspects of the spread offense.
